if looks could kill it would have been us instead of him

lots of fun stories from the field museum today -- for now, i'll post some pics and erin and i will add some comments later. let's just say that evesie's love for stuffed animals has expanded beyond teddy bears to include the work of taxidermists.

eve was quizzical, studied meta-physical science

we took our budding scientist to the museum of science and industry last sunday and she LOVED it. then again, the pups loves everything. i am now starting to reap the full benefit of having a daughter. EXAMPLE: we spent about 30 minutes in the fairy castle and never even ventured close to the nazi submarine. i remain un-thrilled by this development.

she's an artist, she don't look back

today in chicago, we've reached the balmy temperature of 24 degrees. for much of this week, though, it was much, much colder. therefore, this little pups had tons of fun inside with her pals, making dough, painting, making collages, and hanging out in her pack n play.

as usual, eve goes for the 'full experience' at any event. i think you'll see what i mean in the pics and video. we have also now witnessed the evester walking six whole steps to her e.m. will she take steps like this to her mama or papa? of course not. still, now we know she can do it!

deep in the jungle where the mighty tiger lies

these fotos are already on facebook but i thought to post a few here anyway, for those of you (like e-$) who ignore my profile. on new year's day we took the eve-ster to the garfield conservatory and had a wonderful time. she insisted on "walking" and loved the plants. as the last pic indicates, she was pretty exhausted by the end of the day. so were we, but it was a nice start to the new year.

i've got a sentimental heart that beats

well friends, here we are at the end of 2008. this pups has had one heck of a year, and so have her 'rents. i made this little slide show to give you a peek of our goings on in the past 365 days. i contemplated attaching a list, giving a brief summary of everywhere we've been and all that we've done, but suffice it to say, and as ted put it in our toast last night--let's never have another year quite as busy as this one.

let's hope we can keep that promise for at least one year!

p.s. the song is called 'space beatle' by the beta band. wonderful, wonderful. ted put it on a mix for me a few years back, and whenever i hear it, i fondly remember driving through durham in the winter rain, listening for all the segues and links that he likes to stitch into those mixes. it seemed a good choice for the sentiment attached to this project, even if it isn't representative of our current playlist.

p.p.s. as usual, youtube quickly loaded this video but compressed its quality. the pictures are really much clearer than you see them here, so if you'd like a copy on cd, just send me an email.
